VenusOS is the name of the operating system running on the Victron GX. For this operating system, we have developed software to add support for 123\SmartBMS. The name of this software is 123\SmartBMS Venus. When a new version is available, you can update the software. These updates add new features and bugfixes. We recommend to update these packages to the latest version before updating to the latest VenusOS. Tip: turn “auto install” in Package Manager on. This ensures that you have the latest version of Package Manager and the 123\SmartBMS Venus software.

Package manager #

The initial installation file (venus-data.tar.gz) includes Package manager. After installing the 123\SmartBMS Venus software, your system also includes the package manager. Via this package manager, you can update the 123\SmartBMS software, but also the package manager itself. We recommend to frequently update the Package Manager and 123\SmartBMS software, or just activate the “auto install packages” to automatically get the new updates.
The GX needs an internet connection to check for updates and to download the updates.

You can access the active packages in the Victron GX console via Settings->Package manager->active packages.

If a new version is available, tap on the package, then select tap on download. When downloading finished, tap on install to update.
